Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Londorossi Gate (2,100m) → Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)

After breakfast and briefing in Moshi, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and meet your trekking team. Begin hiking through dense rainforest filled with colobus monkeys and tropical birds.

Day 2 – Mti Mkubwa → Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)

Climb out of the forest and enter the moorland zone with views of Shira Ridge and Mount Meru behind you. This stage offers your first real taste of the open highlands.

Day 3 – Shira 1 → Moir Hut (4,200m)

A gentle hike across the Shira Plateau, one of the most scenic areas of Kilimanjaro, before reaching Moir Hut. Optional short acclimatization hikes in the afternoon.

Day 4 – Moir Hut → Lava Tower (4,630m) → Barranco Camp (3,960m)

Ascend gradually to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp through the unique alpine desert and giant Senecio vegetation. This “climb high, sleep low” day helps your body adjust to altitude.

Day 5 – Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp (3,995m)

Climb the Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical section offering spectacular views. Continue through undulating valleys to reach Karanga Camp — the perfect acclimatization stop before summit night.

Day 6 – Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Today’s trek is shorter but steeper as you approach the final base camp, Barafu. Arrive by mid-afternoon, rest early, and prepare for your midnight summit attempt.

Day 7 – Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Wake around midnight for your summit push under the stars. Slowly ascend through switchbacks to reach Stella Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa!

After celebrating your success and taking photos, descend carefully to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
